London documentaries display Zionist crimes in Palestine

London, Jan 11, IRNA - Two anti-Zionist documentaries were screened in London on Sunday, portraying the crimes of Israelis in the Occupied Palestinian territories since 1948.

“Matzpen: Anti-Zionist Israelis”, directed by Eran Torbiner, displayed the fight of the socialist Israeli organisation, Matzpen, against Zionism and Israeli occupation of Palestine.

Moshe Machover, one of the founding members of Matzpen, said in a discussion after screening the film that Zionist occupation of Palestine and ethnic-cleansing of Palestinians have heightened anti-Semitism during the past 60 years.

Machover added that Zionism is the “colonial part of the capitalist system” which has occupied the Palestinian land and oppressed its people since 1946 when a national home for the Jewish people was “illegally and illegitimately” established in Palestine.

He said that the Zionist regime in Israel is more brutal than the apartheid regime of South Africa during the 1948 and 1994 as the Zionists are ethnic-cleansing the Palestinians.

Machover added that Zionist Israelis aim to exterminate indigenous Palestinians in the occupied territories in Jerusalem [Beit-ul-Moqaddas] and the West Bank while discriminating against Palestinians living in Israel.

“Jerusalem...the East Side Story”, directed by Mohammed Alatar, displayed the miseries of Palestinians and the Israeli occupation of Jerusalem [Beit-ul-Moqaddas] in the past 40 years.

The documentary also covered the devastating impacts of the Israeli occupation of Jerusalem [Beit-ul-Moqaddas] and the demolition and confiscation of Palestinian houses in the holy Old City and the West Bank.

Betty Hunter, the director-general of the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign, discussed after the film that the issue of Jerusalem [Beit-ul-Moqaddas] is “central” to the settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

She said the Israelis are committing ethnic-cleansing in the occupied Palestinian territories and in Jerusalem [Beit-ul-Moqaddas] in particular to divide between Palestinians in the West Bank and Jerusalem [Beit-ul-Moqaddas].

She added that the film covered the “colonial project” of Israel which began more than six decades ago in collusion with Britain.

The director-general of the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign, who visited Jerusalem [Beit-ul-Moqaddas] 18 months ago, said Israeli settlers in the Old City have occupied the rooftops of the Palestinian houses and threaten them with rifles.

"Israeli settlers want to force Palestinians leave their homes in Jerusalem [Beit-ul-Moqaddas] and go to the West Bank so that Israelis could grab the whole holy land.”

Hunter further criticised the British media, including the BBC, for their “biased coverage” of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and their “complete ignorance” towards the pains of Palestinians, particularly in Gaza.

“The BBC introduces Jerusalem [Beit-ul-Moqaddas] as the capital of Israel while the international community does not treat it in this way”, she said, castigating the BBC for undermining the “Viva Palestine” aid caravan which broke the Gaza siege last week./end
