Iran : Government committed to safeguarding nation’s interests

Tehran, Jan 9, IRNA – Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said his government would stand by its promise to the leadership and the nation to build the country and safeguard national interests.

Making the remarks in the southern city of Bandar Abbas in Hormuzgan province after inaugurating country’s biggest aluminum project, he said enemies of the nation should not nurture the hollow dream that they could ever create obstacles on the progress of the Iranian nation.

If they still did so, he added, they would be facing scenes to prove them they have been wrong.

He said the only proper way for the world to treat the Iranian nation was to respect it and act justly towards it.

The president said Iranians would resist and confront any kind of obstacles created for them in any place in the world.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the president stressed that enemies tried to slow down the trend of progress and development in Iran but said they should be aware that in the next five or ten years, Iran would inevitably turn into one of world’s biggest powers.

Ahmadinejad also underlined the need for nuclear arms disarmament in the world and said Iran was persistent on this demand.
