PRESIDENT RECEIVES DEBORA KOMINI


Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ The President Ts.Elbegdorj received Thursday Mrs Debora Komini, a permanent coordinator of the United Nations (UN) and permanent representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to Mongolia, in connection with her completing office term and returning home.
The President pointed out that the UNDP has been significantly contributing to reducing poverty, promoting the good governance and ensuring the sustainable development in Mongolia. He underlined an importance of projects implemented by the UNDP in sectors of education, gender matter and in protection for infants and mothers, in line with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). He thanked Komini for making great efforts in works done in Mongolia.
The State Head mentioned about his meeting with Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary-General to share views on the global warming during the high-level meeting of the United Nations Climate Change Summit held in Copenhagen, Denmark. Mr Elbegdorj said Mongolia wants to actively partake in combating the climate change and in support U.N. activities in it.
In turn, Komini mentioned that Mongolia appreciates international actions of the UN and runs active foreign policy, and said the country is successfully participating in the U.N. peacekeeping operations. She thanked the State Head and his office for promoting implementation of the UNDP in Mongolia and for cooperating in it.
At the end of the meeting, the President wished her successes in her next work in Panama.
