TEHRAN, Dec. 28 (MNA) – Alireza Rahaii, the president of Amir Kabir University of Technology (AUT) announced that the production phase of the AUT SAT satellite has begun.

AUT SAT has been designed by the resident scientists and researchers at AUT, he said.

AUT and Iran Aerospace Industries Organization signed a production agreement on AUT SAT satellite, said Shahrokh Mahdavi, a contract expert at the university.

According to Mahdavi, the satellite’s total weight is 70-80 kilograms and can be used to assess damages inflicted by earthquakes, droughts and other natural disasters, contributing enormously to the reduction of casualties.

The satellite is also capable of surveying agricultural lands, he added.

Many researchers specialized in electronics, computer sciences, Aerospace, and polymers fields have cooperated in designing and building the satellite.
