Iran's govt. bodies to cooperate in science and research projects

TEHRAN, Dec. 17 (MNA) -- The Health Ministry, the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), and the president’s office for science and technology signed six major cooperation agreements on Wednesday.


They agreed to cooperate in the production of medical radioisotopes, environmental research vessels, and medicines that are currently imported into the country, as well as H1N1 flu vaccines, a nuclear fusion reactor and power plant, and stem cells to treat currently incurable heart diseases.


The plan to produce medicine is meant to facilitate the production of 15 types of medicine and will be carried out by the Health Ministry.


The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran in cooperation with the Health Ministry will carry out the plan to produce medical radioisotopes.


The AEOI also agreed to make efforts to develop the next generation of nuclear technology and to design and build a nuclear fusion reactor and research power plant.


Iranian National Centre for Oceanography (INCO) under the supervision of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology will implement the project to produce research vessels to carry out environmental research in the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman, and the Indian Ocean. The Defense Ministry will also cooperate in the implementation of this project.
