Mash’al meets head of IRI Expediency Council

Tehran, Dec 15, IRNA – Visiting Head of Hamas Political Office Khaled Mash’al here Monday met and conferred with the Head of Iran's Expediency Council, Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.

According to IRNA Political Desk reporter, Ayatollah Rafsanjani during the meeting said that the Palestinian issue is the most important concern of the world, and particularly of the Islamic countries, adding, “The oppression and injustice observed against the Gaza residents today is extremely heartbreaking and putting an end to it is the sheer duty of the Islamic world.”

Rafsanjani added, “The Islamic world can create a serious obstacle in the way of the Zionist regime’s totalitarian and expansionist tendencies and polices, and the Islamic countries must spend efforts aimed at breaking the siege of Gaza and to end the misery and pains that that region’s residents have long been suffering from.”

Rafsanjani also emphasized the need for bringing to courts of justice the main criminals in charge of committing the war crimes and violating the most natural human rights in Gaza, arguing, “Observing lenience in that respect can ruin the reputation of the international and human rights organs.”

He said that the dynamism of the Jihadi movement in the hearts of the Palestinian nation is a cause for joy, adding, “Maintaining the Jihadi spirit and observing patience in confrontation with the hardships are two main factors in resistance that would lead to the victory of the Palestinian people, and the signs of upcoming victory are already evident.”

Ayatollah Rafsanjani emphasized, “Unity and solidarity of the Palestinian nation and their political parties and refraining from all kinds of disputes would boost the combat power needed at the battle fronts and that is a point worth deep contemplation.”

Mash’al, too, during the meeting referring to the pains and hardships endured by Gaza residents due to the long siege of the war torn Palestinian region, emphasized, “The Islamic world had better step in and take the necessary moves aimed at breaking the siege of Gaza.”

He added, “The Islamic world’s role playing at the present time would be of extremely important value, since otherwise no other political block, or international organ would shoulder the important task.”

Mash’al appreciated the political and spiritual support of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the Palestinian nation, and particularly for the oppressed and war stricken Gaza residents./end
