Leader calls for calm in society

TEHRAN, Dec. 13 (MNA) -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has called for efforts to maintain calm and security in the society.

“After the election, unfortunately, some broke the law and caused unrest and paved the way so that the disappointed enemy revived and was emboldened to such an extent to offend the late Imam (Khomeini) before the eyes of students who love the Imam, the revolution, and the Islamic system,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in Tehran at a meeting with religious figures, seminary instructors, and students.

He made the remarks in response to an incident on December 7, which was Iran’s Student Day, in which a poster of Imam Khomeini was torn up.

This great insult is the result of violations of the law and putting hope in foreign media outlets’ encouragement, he added.

“People will deal with enemies who seek to create insecurity and unrest, and legal organizations also have duties that should be fulfilled,” the Leader stated.

Ayatollah Khamenei accused certain people, who commit illegal acts using the slogan of abiding by the law, of committing the insult.

He also said those who serve Islam, the revolution, and the cause of the Imam learn a lesson as soon as they realize that their actions and remarks are against the principles and change their path.

“But why don’t some of these gentlemen learn a lesson?” he asked.

Commenting on the presidential election, he said there were no irregularities in the election and everyone must respect the law.
