Official: Iran, embodiment of people-based Islamic system

Tehran, Dec 9, IRNA – President Ahmadinejad's Advisor, Mehdi Mostafavi said that the present ruling system in Iran is an outstanding example of an Islamic system based on democracy which should easily serve as a role-model for other nations.

Mostafavi, who is also the head of Iran's Organization of Culture and Islamic Communication, said in his article presented to the Fifth Parliament of World’s Religions that based on this pattern, people will have a very active participation in all matters relating to their societies by having the chance of electing their officials which gives all an equal chance to participate in determining their lives.

Outlining the differences between a people-based Islamic system and the western type democracies, he further said the Islamic Republic in Iran was a true example of the points of divergence between these two government patterns.

He said while the world is witnessing the indifference of these so-called western democracies towards the plight of people caused by inhumane crimes committed against humanity, Iran has been reacting to them vigorously, though causing the animosity of big powers, thanks to the Islamic system governing the country which is based on divine teachings.

Mostafavi is heading a ranking delegation comprised of a number of distinguished Iranian scholars to the event which is to end December 9.
