Iran, an honor for Middle East: Former Lebanese PM

Beirut, Dec 9, IRNA – Former Lebanese Prime Minister Selim al Hoss said here on Tuesday that Iran's ability to produce nuclear energy with peaceful goals is an honor for all Middle East countries.

According to An-Nashre website, Al-Hoss added that Iranian officials have repeatedly underlined and told world community that the country's nuclear program is peaceful and the issue had been confirmed by IAEA's inspectors. But unfortunately, the west is distorting the issue.

He added if the west has good will, they should talk about the issue and try to find a formula in this concern and then support the peaceful nuclear program.

Al Hoss said that isolating or imposing sanctions against Iran by the west, which is an Israeli policy, is condemned by world community, adding that Iran can gain access to the full technology for producing nuclear energy, it would be an honor for oriental countries.

The Arab world should not take its inability and weakness to access to peaceful nuclear technology as a pretext for hostility to Iran, while Iran has always been close to Arabs, such as in Palestine issue, and has stood with Arabs against their main enemy, Israel, he concluded./end
