Iranian poets to attend Rumi commemoration ceremonies in Konya

TEHRAN, Dec. 8 (MNA) -- A group of Iranian poets will attend the annual ceremonies held on the anniversary of the death of the Persian poet Rumi in Konya, Turkey.

Iran’s Young Poetry Office decided to dispatch a group of Iranian poets to the ceremonies that are held in mid December, the office’s director Mohammadreza Abdolmalekian told MNA.

A group of junior poets that were awarded at the Young Poetry Book of the Year Awards accompanied by veteran poets will travel to Turkey on December 13, he said.

Shams Langerudi, Mohammad-Ali Rahmani, Nasser Feiz, Aidin Roshan, Fatemeh Rakei, Hassan Farazmand, Dariush Memar, Hadi Khurshahian are some of the poets who will attend the event.

They will sojourn in Istanbul for two days and then will have a 3-day stay in Konya for attending Rumi’s ceremonies, he added.

After that, they will travel to Ankara and pay a visit to the historical sites, and then attend literary and cultural programs for three days, he remarked.

“As you know, this office is a private organization and we are doing our best to cover all expenses of this trip with the help of cultural organizations. While we have not yet finalized all fundraising efforts, it looks like part of the expenses will have to be paid for by the poets themselves,” he concluded.
