Over 5,000 people take part in walk for poor children
Can Tho (VNA) – More than 5,000 people in the Mekong delta city of Can Tho took part in a sponsored walk for poor children in the Mekong sub-region on December 2.
The people on the walk, entitled “Dream of Mekong” included government
officials, students, pupils, members of the armed forces and representatives from
various foreign missions and local agencies.
The walks organisers said that the event is expected to have a big impact, urging
all sections of society to join together to help poor children who have a desire
to learn from the four countries in the Mekong river sub-region – Laos,
Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam.
The walk raised 40,000 USD and was presented to representatives from the four
countries.
The event was part of the program “Mekong-Japan Cultural and Tourist Days”.
