FM spokesman condemns political game against Iran

Tehran, Dec 1, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mihman-Parast here on Tuesday condemned the political game played against Iran by the IAEA and Western states.

Talking to reporters during his weekly press briefing, Mihan-Parast added, ”We announced our need for fuel for the Tehran reactor to the International Atomic Energy Agency and the agency announced it to the fuel producing countries. But the issue turned into a political game against Iran.”

When a country is faced with an obstacle in the way of getting its fuel supply, it is obliged to produce it by itself and cannot wait for other states, he said.

On the recent anti-Iran resolution, he said Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in separate letters to members of the 35-strong IAEA Board of Governors will voice Iran’s approval or protest to them regarding their votes to the board’s recent anti-Iran resolution.

Iran has protested against the performance of 25 members of the Board of Governors who had voted for the anti-Iran resolution.

As to putting into operation of the Bushehr power plant, Mihman-Parast said that there is no obstacle on the way of the plant's work and that it will become operational according to the schedule.

The FM spokesman further denounced the Saudi Arabia’s role in the latest developments in Yemen.

He underlined the need for establishment of peace and tranquility throughout the entire region and urged all regional states not to interfere in each other’s domestic affairs. /end
