4m tons of goods transited through Iran

TEHRAN, Nov. 30 (MNA) -- Iran Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization deputy said that in the first seven months of the Iranian calendar year (starting March 21) 3.94 million tons of goods were transited through Iranian borders.


Kamran Rahimov told the Mehr News Agency that there had been a 9.5 percent increase during this period compared to the year before, adding that 82 percent of the goods were transited via roads.


The planning deputy went on to say that the transit of oil products showed a 54.1 percent increase from 491,357 tons in the first seven months of last calendar year to 757,039 tons this year.


Rahimov cited Bandar Abbas as the busiest border point, adding the share of transit from this point, with 1.5 million tons, is 38 percent. Meanwhile, Sarakhs and Bazargan, each with 16.9 and 15.6 percent of the transit of goods, are the second and third busiest border points, respectively.


He pointed out that these statistics are not necessarily compatible with statistics released by the customs administration authority and said, ”During this period combustible products constituted 19.2 percent, cotton 8.6 percent and construction material 8.1 percent of the total transited goods.
