Iranian films line up for Dhaka festival

TEHRAN, Nov. 29 (MNA) -- Fifteen Iranian films are slated to be screened at various sections of the 11th Dhaka International Film Festival, which will take place in Bangladesh from January 14 to 22, 2010.


“Winter Dreams” directed by Siamak Shayeqi, “Roommate” by Mehrdad Farid, “The Voices” by Farzad Motamen and “Twenty” by Abodorreza Kahani will be competing in the Cinema of the World section.



“Super Star” by Tahmineh Milani, “3 Women” by Manijeh Hekmat and “Night Bus” by Kiumars Purahmad have been selected for the Australasian Competition.



“How Green Was Our Valley” by Fereshteh Joghataii, “Persian Cat Walk” by Marjan Alizadeh, “One Day After Tenth Day” by Narges Abyar and “7 Blind Women Filmmakers” by Mohammad Shirvani are scheduled to be screened at the Women’s Section.



The festival organizers have also selected “The Liar Shepherd” by Sirus Hassanpur, “Kobra’s Decision” Sirus Hassanpur and “Granaz” by Shuka Zandbaf for the Children’s Section.



“A Span of Heaven” by Ali Vazirian is the only Iranian flick to be screening in the Spiritual film category.



The festival also plans to hold a retrospective of Iranian filmmaker Rasul Sadr-Ameli. “Every Night, Loneliness”, “A Girl in the Sneakers”, “I’m Taraneh, 15” and “Last Night, I Saw Your Dad, Aida” will be shown during the retrospective.
