Iran, Pakistan presidents stress eradication of terrorism

The Iranian and Pakistani presidents, in a telephone conversation on Monday, underscored the need for joint cooperation to uproot terrorism.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran and his Pakistani counterpart President Asif Ali Zardari called for further expansion of amicable ties between the two neighboring states.

Referring to Tehran-Islamabad brotherly relations, the Iranian President said the presence of terrorist agents in Pakistan cannot be justified.

He called on the Pakistani government to help arrest the terrorists and rebels and bring them to justice.

Expressing his deep regret over the recent terrorist incident in southeastern Iran, President Zardari condemned any kind of terrorist operations in the world.

Referring to Pakistan as a victim of terrorism, he said Islamabad is seriously determined to fully eradicate terrorism.

He also called for cooperation between the two countries' security forces to counter terrorists.

Some 60 people were killed or injured in the terrorist act which took place when a bomber blew himself up during a meeting held for the unity of provincial Sunni and Shiite Muslims.

Acting Commander of the Ground Forces of IRGC and Commander of Qods Headquarters Brigadier General Nourali Shoushtari along with Commander of Sistan and Balouchestan IRGC Forces Brigadier General Rajabali Mohammadzadeh were among those killed in the fatal attack.
