Iran’s Culture Min stresses need for ending scientific discrimination


Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Mohammad Hosseini here Friday referring to pivotal justice motto, stressed need for ending scientific discrimination and ensuring nations’ freedom to have access to advanced technologies.

According to IRNA correspondent in Paris, Hosseini who was giving his lecture at UNESCO General Assembly prior to departing from France, elaborating on Islamic Republic of Iran’s viewpoints and keeping in mind the scope of UNESCO’s activities, said, “Form Islamic Republic of Iran’s point of the view observation of justice would lead to stability in international relations.”
Further elaborating on the point, he emphasized, “The nations should have free access to advanced sciences and technologies and observation of any type of discrimination and scientific monopoly, such as restricting such matters to a certain geographical region and depriving the nations in other regions is totally denounced.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hosseini noted that preservation of the environment for the future generations is a need and abiding by ethical norms side by side with development of countries, too, is a necessity.
He meanwhile asked for adopting necessary measures to preserve the ecosystem of the Persian Gulf and to end all types of pollutions in that waterway.
The Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister said that the year 2010 is an important year from the cultural point of the view, highlighting the role played by the renowned Iranian literary, scientific, and cultural personalities in bringing the hearts and mind of the world nations together.
He added, “Based on an initiative by the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Avicenna Award is meant to create a relation bond between ethics and the sciences, while other awards such as the Ferdowsi and the Sheikh Baha’ie awards, too, would play decisive roles in line with the same objective, in different fields.”
According to Hosseini, in the year 2010 the International Philosophy Day would be commemorated in Iran in collaboration with the UNESCO, under the title “Philosophy, from Theory to Practice”, while due to the significance of the Persian language as the language for loving the mankind and friendship among nations, next year would also be named the year to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of composing Ferdowsi’s grand and immortal masterpiece of the Persian language, the Shahnameh (Letter of the Kings).”
