Minor disputes should not influence Iran-Egypt ties: FM

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said Monday evening that minor differences should not influence Tehran-Cairo relations.

In a meeting with the outgoing head of Egyptian Interest Section in Tehran, Amr Ahmed El Zayat, Mottaki appreciated great efforts made by the Egyptian diplomat to bolster bilateral all-out ties.

Referring to the existing cultural and historical potentials in both countries, he expressed hope that such potentials would be in line with the two countries interests.

Reiterating that minor disputes should not prevail over bilateral cooperation between the two countries, Mottaki called for making use of appropriate diplomacy to settle such disputes.

On economic and industrial potentials in both countries, he said Iranian commodities with high quality and cheap price are ready to be supplied to the regional markets.

As to Tehran-Cairo cooperation at the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Mottaki said the two countries shared identical views regarding many regional and international issues.

Such stands would pave the way for closer consultations between the two sides on issues of mutual interest such as non-proliferation of nuclear weapons in the Mideast region, he added.

For his part, the Egyptian diplomat congratulated the Iranian foreign minister for his re-election in President mahmoud Ahmadinejad's new governmentand said Mottaki’s experiences could help strengthen the existing relations between Islamic and Arab states.
