Supreme Leader urges Iran, Venezuela to cement independence front


Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Sunday that Iran and Venezuela should spare no effort to bolster the newly established “independence front’.

The Supreme Leader made the remark in a meeting with visiting Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and his entourage.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and Venezuela should upgrade the current level of cooperation to prepare grounds for bolstering of the newly-stablished “independence” front, said the Supreme Leader.

Enhancing spirituality and morals are prerequisite for fight against the enemies, said the Supreme Leader, adding that ”If the spirit of resistance to be formed inside man he will never experience defeat or failure.”

Referring to the set-backs of the US in various parts of the world, Ayatollah Khamenei said consecutive defeats of the US indicates that the contemporary world is now undergoing an undeniable change.

Referring to the failures of the US and the high price the country has paid in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Palestine, the Supreme Leader said the failure of the US in the face of Iran’s developments was the heaviest one.

The situation in the Latin America has changed and the region once regarded as the US backyard is now witnessing emergence of new power, pointed out the Supreme Leader.

Victories and success of the resistance fronts are indebted to the will and efforts of people and the Almighty God, said Ayatollah Khamenei, adding that such efforts should be stepped up to help strengthen the resistance front.

Political cooperation and assistance would be very vital for increase of powers, said the Supreme Leader.

Besides expansion of political cooperation and coordination, all should try to upgrade level of mutual cooperation in industrial, economic, banking and transportation sectors, pointed out the Supreme Leader.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was also present in the meeting.

The Venezuelan president, for his part, expressed happiness with his meeting with the Supreme Leader and called his recent talks with Iranian president as very fruitful.

During talks with Iranian president the two sides reached agreements on various issues such as formation of a public council for joint banking cooperation, he said.

To strongly deal with the plots hatched by the enemies all should forge unity and increase current cooperation, he said.
