Syrian minister calls for boosting scientific ties with Iran

Syrian Minister of Higher Education Ghiath Barakat called for expansion of bilateral scientific ties with Iran.

Talking to IRNA on the sidelines of the Specialized Exhibition Of Universities, Institutes and Universities' Equipments in Damascus, Syria's capital city, Barakat cited Iran-Syria academic ties as proper.

Referring to the establishment of Iran’s Farabi University in Lazqiyeh, Syria, the minister of higher education said this university is the symbol of cordial mutual scientific cooperation.

He also expressed hope that the level of two countries' scientific ties will be increased as political ties.

The 8th Specialized Exhibition Of Universities, Institutes and Universities' Equipments opened in Damascus on July 28 and will be wrapped up on July 31.

Several universities from Syria, Iran, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Australia, Cyprus and Malaysia are participating in the event.
