Twenty Lao students to read master’s courses in Japanese universities

(KPL) The Japanese Government offered the Japan Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) to 20 Laotians to read master’s courses in public finance, public administration, engineering, agriculture, law, investment promotion and education development in universities in Japan.
Eighteen of them will leave for Japan in August and two will depart in March 2010.
The ambassador of Japan to Laos, Mr. Masaaki Miyashita said to the JDS fellows to be committed to their studies, to contribute to the development of Laos and hopefully to “play bridging roles between Laos and Japan,” during the farewell reception last Friday.
Since 1999, 215 Lao fellows have been awarded this scholarship to study in Japanese universities and 145 had returned to their homeland.
This reception was attended by Minister of Public Health, Dr. Ponemek Dalaloy, Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Sengdeuane Lachanthaboun and Resident Representative of JICA to Laos, Mr. Hiroaki Takashima.
