Over 150 killed in plane crash in northwest Tehran

A passenger plane with some 150 passengers on board crashed near Jannat-Abad village in the sauburb of the provincial capital city of Qazvin, about 200 km northwest of Tehran, on Wednesday. All passengers on board were reportedly killed.

Qazvin police chief, Colonel Masoud Jafari-Nasab told IRNA that the plane was completely destroyed and smashed into pieces after crashing in Jannat-Abad farmlands.

He added that all passengers on board “are most probably dead.”

Meanwhile, spokesman of the Iran Civil Aviation Organization Reza Ja'far-Zadeh told IRNA that the plane was belonged to the Caspian Airlines heading to Yerevan, Armenia, from Tehran.

"Flight 7,908 faced problems 16 minutes after taking off from the Imam Khomenini International Airport" in southern Tehran, said the spokesman.

He added that an investigation team was sent to the site of the incident immediately.

Head of Qazvin’s fire department Hossein Behzad-Pour also told IRNA that local firefighters rushed to the site of the incident immediately to extinguish the fire caused by the plane crash.
