Indonesia's Prabowo to joins BRICS Summit talks on peace, security, AI

Rio de Janeiro (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is set to join world leaders for plenary sessions on world peace, global security, and artificial intelligence (AI) during the 2025 BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Sunday.
Held at the Museum of Modern Art, the high-level conference will begin with a welcome ceremony for heads of state and government from BRICS member countries at 9:30 a.m. local time, followed by a group photo at 10:30 a.m.
The leaders will then proceed to the venue for the first plenary session, where they are expected to exchange views on peace, security, and reform of global governance. This session will be followed by a luncheon and a closed-door meeting.
At 2:45 p.m., representatives from BRICS partner countries and international organizations are scheduled to arrive for the second plenary session, which begins at 4 p.m. This session will focus on multilateralism, finance and economy, and AI.
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and First Lady Janja Lula da Silva are expected to conclude the first day of the 17th BRICS Summit by hosting a closed-door official reception for the guests.
On Monday, July 7, the BRICS Summit — held under the theme “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance” — will continue with another plenary session at 9 a.m., this time focusing on environmental and global health issues.
Prabowo arrived in Brazil via Galeão Air Force Base in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday to attend the event, marking his first appearance at a BRICS forum since Indonesia officially joined the bloc of emerging economies on January 6.
The Indonesian delegation, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Arrmanatha Nasir, aims to use the event to affirm Indonesia’s commitment to facilitating dialogue amid an increasingly complex global landscape.
As noted on the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s website, the Indonesian government views BRICS as a strategic platform to advance national interests in the economy, education, and technology through fair and inclusive international partnerships.
