BEIJING, July 6 (Bernama) -- China will continue to strengthen its partnerships with developing nations and support global stability through inclusive growth and innovation, according to the Assistant Foreign Minister of China Hong Lei.
“China enjoys a bright future full of new opportunities. Our economy is showing strong resilience and vigour, and its steady momentum will inject much-needed stability and certainty into this world,” he said during his speech at the Reception and Closing Ceremony of China International Press Communication Centre (CIPCC) Programme for the first half of 2025 here, Saturday night.
Hong also underscored China’s enduring commitment to global development.
“China is also deepening reform, expanding its opening-up and boosting domestic demand to share the benefits of being the world’s second-largest consumer and import market.
“We will create more opportunities for the world through our own development. We will continue to be an anchor and engine of the global economy,” he said.
He noted that China is investing heavily in emerging technologies such as DeepSeek artificial intelligence models, humanoid robots, high-speed railways, electric vehicles, clean energy and quantum technologies.
He noted that these developments are undergoing rapid growth and are well-positioned to bring benefits to the global community.
“The key to China’s success lies in having found a development path that suits our national conditions and aligns with the trends of our times.
“Socialism with Chinese characteristics possesses unique strength and strong vitality. We will stay firmly on this course,” he said.
Amid growing geopolitical tensions, Hong stressed the importance of unity and multilateral cooperation, warning against the rise of unilateralism and protectionism.
Regarding the CIPCC programme, Hong emphasised that it serves as a vital bridge between China and the Global South.
He praised the participating journalists for their extensive and insightful coverage throughout the four-month initiative, which featured visits to 19 provinces and regions, participation in over 500 activities, and the production of more than 5,000 stories.
A total of 119 journalists from 101 countries have participated in the CIPCC programme, which started in February this year.
“Your stories have opened windows for fellow Global South countries to gain a better understanding of China,” he said, adding that a stronger collaboration is needed to ensure the CIPCC programme continues to thrive as a platform for dialogue and mutual understanding between China and Global South nations.
The CIPCC programme, organised by the China Public Diplomacy Association, is a media exchange initiative aimed at strengthening mutual understanding between China and the Global South through in-depth reporting and exposure to the country’s development journey.
