Minister of labor and UN Special Rapporteur discuss rights of persons with disabilities in Kyrgyzstan

Minister of Labor, Social Security and Migration Zhyldyz Polotova and UN Special Rapporteur on the rights of persons with disabilities Heba Hagrass discussed the implementation of inclusive policies in Kyrgyzstan.

Zhyldyz Polotova briefed about the measures taken to implement the obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

"In our country, the Council for Persons with Disabilities under the Cabinet of Ministers is an important structure in the field of inclusion, which allows organizations working with PWDs, as well as citizens with disabilities themselves, to participate in decision-making. The measures of the State Program "Accessible Country" are aimed at expanding the opportunities for people with limited mobility," she said.

During the meeting, issues of the quality of social services, simplification of procedures for examining citizens and the accessibility of the republic's infrastructure were discussed. It was noted that in order to improve the situation in the area of ​​ensuring the rights of persons with disabilities, the efforts of government agencies, international organizations and civil society have been combined.
