Arab League against isolating Iran: official

The Arab League on Monday opposed the idea of isolating the Islamic Republic by certain Arab states.

Ararb League assistant secretary-general Hisham Youssef told IRNA that his organization has rejected the move to isolate Iran by several Arab countries following the unrest created in the country after its recent presidential elections.

He regretted that certain Arab states are interested in interfering in Iran’s domestic affairs, stressing that Iran’s stability is important for the entire region.

Expressing his concern over the critical situation in the war-torn Iraq, he expressed hope that Baghdad would be able to settle the existing challenges.

Referring to the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq as an important step, he called for withdrawal of all foreign forces from that country.

Youssef underlined the need for cooperation and assistance of all Arab countries to establish peace and security in the occupied Iraq.
