Iran, Turkmenistan review border issues at a consular meeting

Tehran, IRNA – The 16th intergovernmental commission between Iran and Turkmenistan was held in the Iranian capital where consular and border issues were discussed.

The meeting, co-chaired by Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary, and Iranian Expatriates Affairs Alireza Bigdeli and Turkmenistan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov, took place in Tehran on Tuesday.”

The two parties discussed the facilitation of transit, the opening of border markets, and cooperation in security affairs and customs matters.

Additionally, both officials expressed their willingness to enhance comprehensive relations between Tehran and Ashgabat.

As a result of the consular meeting, a cooperative document was signed between the two sides.

It’s worth noting that Iran shares a lengthy border with Turkmenistan in the northeast.
