Bursa Malaysia Trends Lower At Midmorning
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 (Bernama) -- Bursa Malaysia, the stock exchange of Malaysia, remained lower at midmorning on Friday amid a quiet market ahead of Chinese New Year celebrations.
At 11.05 am, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) inched down 0.12 of-a-point to 1,512.24 from Thursday’s close of 1,512.36, after opening 1.46 points higher at 1,513.82.
On the broader market, decliners edged gainers 337 to 305, while 387 counters were unchanged, 1,258 untraded and 11 others suspended.
Turnover amounted to 938.91 million units worth RM381.27 million (US$ 79.8 million).
Among the heavyweights, Petronas Chemicals added one sen to RM6.72, Tenaga Nasional and CelcomDigi were flat at RM10.78 and RM4.22 respectively, while Maybank and Public Bank eased one sen each to RM9.25 and RM4.36.
As for the actives, Widad edged up half-a-sen to 13 sen, Dataprep advanced 2.0 sen to 15 sen, Revenue rose half-a-sen to 21 sen, TWL and Sarawak Consolidated were flat at 4.0 sen and 35.5 sen, while Reneuco inched down half-a-sen to 6.5 sen. (US$ 1 = RM 4.7)
On the index board, the FBM Emas Index was 5.15 points higher at 11,239.08, the FBMT 100 Index increased 4.40 points to 10,901.88, the FBM 70 Index appreciated 27.80 points to 15,197.03, the FBM Emas Shariah Index advanced 12.88 points to 11,278.71 while the FBM ACE Index went up 23.99 points to 4,795.80.
Sector-wise, the Property Index added 1.81 points to 906.91, the Plantation Index gained 0.48 of a point to 7,198.39, and the Energy Index improved by 4.75 points to 885.45.
The Financial Services Index slid 33.60 points to 16,883.29 and the Industrial Products and Services Index eased 0.01 a point to 172.22.
