The Iraqi National Security Advisor Receives His Iranian Counterpart In Baghdad

Baghdad / NINA / - The National Security Advisor, Qassem Al-Araji, received in his office today, Monday, the Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Ali Akbar Ahmadian, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad, Muhammad Kazem Al Sadiq.

 The meeting witnessed, according to a statement by the Media Office of the National Security Adviser, a review of the overall political and security situation in the region, in addition to discussing the strengthening of relations between Iraq and Iran at all levels.

Al-Araji pointed out that the relations between Baghdad and Tehran are distinct and strategic, and that the two countries and the two friendly peoples have many things in common, stressing that Iraq always seeks to strengthen its relations with everyone in a way that serves the common interests of the countries in accordance with the principle of mutual respect.

 

Al-Araji added that the exchange of visits between Baghdad and Tehran confirms the depth of relations between the two countries and indicates the excellence of relations and the common vision of risks and challenges, pointing out that this requires that solutions be direct without unilateral positions, indicating that partnership in constructive dialogue would solve every problems arise.

 For his part, Ahmadian pointed out that the Iranian leadership always emphasizes that Iraq and Iran share a single relationship with a long historical depth, stressing that Iran deals in accordance with respect for Iraq’s sovereignty and that all problems can be resolved through meaningful and constructive dialogue./ End
