Belarus supports free trade with Iran

Tehran, June 25, IRNA – Speaker of Belarus Parliament's Upper Chamber, Boris Batura, said here Wednesday that his parliament supports Iran-Belarus free trade.

“We are confident that bilateral relations have many benefits for our nations and due to the same reason, Belarus parliament has voiced its support for expansion of Iran-Belarus free trade,” Batura told Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki here Wednesday.

Batura said close and all-out relations between Iran and Belarus follow a positive trend and it will continue in future.

He also congratulated the Iranian government and nation on successfully holding presidential elections on June 12.

Mottaki, for his part, said establishment of foundations for development of bilateral relations is strongly followed by the two sides’ officials and due to the same basis, prospect of cooperation ensuring mutual interests is very bright.

He called for trilateral cooperation with Russia in the field of oil, energy, fuel supply and cargo exchange.

He said support of Iranian and Belarus parliaments will serve as an important asset for deeper ties.

The elections marked great epic of Iranian people’s high turnout, second in importance after the April 1, 1979, referendum on the Islamic Republic establishment in Iran, Mottaki said, adding that in the elections people once again supported the president’s stances and performance.

He added that concurrent with the presidential elections in Iran, there were European Parliament elections and the turnout in certain countries was only 25 percent.

“This can show appalling difference between Iran’s legitimacy and democracy and those of Europe,” he added.
