ASEAN Sec-Gen Attends Malaysian Night Event In Laos
JAKARTA, Jan 26 (Bernama) -- ASEAN secretary-general Dr Kao Kim Hourn attended the Malaysian Night at the Landmark Hotel held on the sidelines of the 27th Meeting of ASEAN Tourism Ministers (M-ATM) in Vientiane, Laos.
He joined the ASEAN Tourism Ministers at the event on Thursday – hosted by Malaysian Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Tiong King Sing – showcasing the country’s distinctive culture and cuisine, according to the ASEAN Secretariat.
Earlier, both Kao and Tiong also met on the sidelines of the meetings and exchanged views on the progress of the implementation of the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan 2016-2025, priorities, and direction.
Kao highlighted the importance of focusing on the implementation of key initiatives to realise more sustainable and resilient tourism development as the region welcomes back more travellers.
At the two-day M-ATM and related meetings, ending Friday, Kao shared his views on ways to further advance sustainable tourism development, enhance the quality of tourism professionals, and boost people-to-people mobility to aid the regional economic recovery.
The meetings were held under the theme ‘Quality and Responsible Tourism - Sustaining ASEAN Future’, in line with Laos’ theme for ASEAN this year, ‘ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience’.
