PM Confirms Iraq's Desire To Attract Spanish Companies To Contribute To Development Projects In Iraq

Baghdad / NINA / -Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani confirmed Iraq's desire to attract Spanish companies to contribute to development projects and strategic infrastructure in Iraq.

The Prime Minister's media office stated: "Today, Al-Sudani met with Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel and his accompanying delegation."

During the meeting, Al-Sudani expressed the importance of Iraqi-Spanish relations, and the endeavor to strengthen them at various levels and fields, pointing to the exchange of successful visits between officials in the two countries, the most recent of which was the visit of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to Baghdad last month.

Al-Sudani stressed Iraq's desire to attract Spanish companies to contribute to development projects and strategic infrastructure in Iraq, most notably Al-Faw Grand Port projects, the industrial city, and the development road, in accordance with the experience and reputation these companies enjoy in performance and implementation.

The Prime Minister renewed Iraq's position regarding the mission of the international coalition to fight ISIS in Iraq, indicating that the terrorist organization no longer poses a threat to the Iraqi state, and that our armed forces are capable of fully undertaking the tasks of maintaining security and stability and repelling threats, and that the time has come to move to bilateral relations with all coalition's countries.

He appreciated Spain's position on the aggression in Gaza, calling for intensifying international pressure to prevent the spread of the conflict, and for the rapid delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.

Al-Sudani received, through the Spanish minister, the Spanish Prime Minister's greetings, stressing his government's desire to develop relations, strengthen the work of the joint Iraqi-Spanish committee, and look forward to the launch of the fourth round of bilateral dialogue between the two countries.

The Spanish Foreign Minister referred to the work of the Spanish advisors in Iraq within the international coalition, stressing his government’s support for any decision taken by Iraq in this regard, and that Iraq is an essential partner for his country, and the effort continues to find more partnership opportunities.

He explained that his country is making efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, lift the siege on the population, and call for a comprehensive peace conference to establish a Palestinian state./End
