Malaysia's Collaboration With SpaceX Through Measat Promises Enhanced Connectivity, Increased Productivity And Economic Growth
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 25 (Bernama) -- The partnership between a Malaysian satellite operator and telecommunications company, Measat Global Bhd and Space Exploration Technologies Corp (SpaceX) opens up opportunities for better connectivity among the underserved community as well as increases the Malaysian workforce productivity and economy, a technology expert said.
It was reported earlier that Measat has officially inked a partnership with SpaceX to become the official authorised reseller for Starlink hardware and services.
The collaboration enables Measat to solidify its position as a one-stop provider for customers in satellite services and solutions while Starlink will be able to benefit from Measat’s established market presence and strong on-ground customer service and technical support.
Kartel Digital Sdn Bhd, a local e-commerce and digital marketing company, is emphasizing that the primary advantage of the recent partnership lies in the enhancement of internet connectivity quality and reliability, which complements the expertise of each involved entity, as highlighted by their Chief Executive Officer, Hafiz Azman.
"Measat does not provide low earth orbit (LEO) type of satellite connection like Starlink, which gives a more stable and faster Internet connection, but they have the expertise and tech support infrastructure to serve local customers.
"On top of that, Measat already has much clientele in different industries, so it is a symbiotic type of partnership that of course, overall, will increase our nation's workforce productivity and economy in the long run," he told Bernama on Thursday.
Hafiz noted that the partnership will certainly accelerate the country's aspiration to become a high-income nation that focuses on digital technology and economy as the government is aggressively pushing the Malaysia Digital initiative.
He said better and more reliable Internet connection services can promote productivity in businesses, encourage entrepreneurship, and also help to create more highly-skilled workers in the future.
The small and medium enterprises could also leverage the digital tools to help them start and grow their business, he added.
"With the partnership between Measat and SpaceX, I believe there will be more home-grown entrepreneurs who will succeed not just locally but globally," he said.
