Doha, January 23 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers highlighted in their editorials on Tuesday the talks HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held with HE President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon yesterday, which covered the relations of friendship and ways of promoting the cooperation between the two countries in various areas, in addition to the latest regional and international developments of common concern.
The Qatari dailies agreed that the exchange of official visits at the highest level contributed to bolstering the relations between Doha and Dushanbe, noting that HH the Amir's visit to Tajikistan in June 2023 upgraded the bilateral relations with the signing of 15 agreements and memoranda of understanding for joint cooperation in various fields, most notably trade, agriculture, food security and defense.
In its editorial titled "Qatar and Tajikistan... New Horizons of Partnership", Qatari daily Al-Sharq said that the outcome of the official talks HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held with HE President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding, reflect the strength of the bilateral relations and the common keenness to support and upgrade them to advanced stages of strategic partnerships to serve the interests of both countries and their friendly peoples.
Al-Sharq noted the assertion of HH the Amir that the visit of HE the President of Tajikistan contributed to enhancing the bilateral cooperation in various fields. His Highness expressed happiness with talks with President Emomali Rahmon and the close friendship between the two countries.
The exchange of official visits at the highest levels contributed to strengthening the relations between Doha and Dushanbe. HH the Amir's visit to Dushanbe in June 2023 took the bilateral relations to an advanced stage through the signing of 15 agreements and memoranda of understanding covering cooperation in many fields, most notably trade, agriculture, food security and defense, the paper added.
The distinguished relations between Qatar and Tajikistan derive their strength from the ties that bring together HH the Amir and HE President Emomali Rahmon and their common keenness to advance these relations and push them to new horizons. It is not surprising that Qatar was the first country in the Arabian Gulf to recognize the independence of Tajikistan, and the first Arab country to invest in it through the $300 million Diar Dushanbe project, in addition to the construction of Central Asia’s largest mosque: Imam Azam – Abu Hanifa Nu'man ibn Thabit Central Cathedral Mosque of Dushanbe which has become a symbol of worship and tourism in Tajikistan, Al-Sharq concluded.
Al-Watan highlighted the distinct relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Tajikistan which this year mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with the bilateral relations reaching new high levels of distinction and developing steadily in various areas of common interest.
Under the headline "Strong and Distinguished Relations", Al-Watan underlined that the talks HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held with HE President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon yesterday emphasized the joint keenness on developing and enhancing further the bilateral relations and moving them to advanced stages of strategic partnerships, especially in economy, trade and investment.
The strong relations between Qatar and Tajikistan are based on historical ties between the Qatari and Tajik people, and the strong ties that bind the leaders of the two countries - HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and HE President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon - and their joint keenness to advance these relations and push them to new promising horizons, Al-Watan concluded.
In its editorial titled "Qatar and Tajikistan... Promising Relations", Al-Arab daily said that HE President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon's state visit to Qatar, and the signing of an agreement and several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), embody the strategy of the State of Qatar laid down by HH the Amir, based on extending bridges, openness to the entire world, and establishing stronger ties with various sisterly and friendly countries. The visit also affirms the strength of the bilateral relations between the two countries and their friendly peoples.
The newspaper emphasized that the number and type of the MoUs signed contribute to the development of relations between the two countries, dating back to 1994 when the two countries agreed to establish diplomatic relations. These relations have continued and reached a high level of strength, excellence, and continuous development in various fields of common interest.
The paper pointed out that the good and solid relations between the two countries derive their strength from the spiritual, historical, and common bonds between the Qatari and Tajik peoples. Additionally, these relations benefit from the strong ties between the leaders of both countries, HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon's. Both leaders share a common commitment to enhancing these relations and pushing them towards new and promising horizons.
In conclusion, Al-Arab said that Qatari-Tajik relations are characterized as fraternal relations built on mutual trust and respect, especially since Qatar was the first Arabian Gulf country to recognize Tajikistan's independence and the first Arab country to invest in it through the $300 million-worth Diar Dushanbe project. Furthermore, Qatar financed the construction of Central Asia's largest mosque: Imam Abu Hanifa Nu'man ibn Thabit Mosque in the capital Dushanbe whose area stretches over 12 hectares and has the capacity of accommodating 133,000 worshippers at a time.
In its editorial under the headline "Qatar and Tajikistan... 30 Years of Partnership", Al-Raya said that the State of Qatar and the Republic of Tajikistan have always been associated with exemplary relations of alliance and strategic cooperation between countries. These relations are close, flourishing, and witness an upward trajectory due to the high-level coordination between Doha and Dushanbe.
The editorial continued, saying that Qatar and Tajikistan, the model allies, are inaugurating a new chapter of partnership and cooperation, especially as 30 years have passed since the establishment of diplomatic relations. Qatar was the first country in the Arab Gulf to recognize the independence of Tajikistan, and the first Arab country to invest in it through the $300 million-worth Diar Dushanbe project. Qatar also financed the construction of the Imam Abu Hanifa Nu'man ibn Thabit Mosque in the capital Dushanbe, which is the largest mosque in Central Asia, covering an area of 12 hectares and accommodating 133,000 worshippers at a time.
The newspaper underlined that over three decades of strong relations between Qatar and Tajikistan, the two countries have witnessed successive stages and milestones of cooperation. Several agreements and memoranda of understanding have been signed between the friendly countries, and there has been an exchange of visits between delegations at ministerial, trade, and investment levels.
Al-Raya concluded that the Qatari-Tajik summit today embodies the strategy of the State of Qatar, laid down by HH the Amir, based on building bridges, openness to the entire world, and establishing stronger ties with various sisterly and friendly countries. The summit is expected to contribute to the development, support, and enhancement of relations between the two countries, taking them to advanced stages of strategic partnerships, especially in the economic, trade, and investment fields, benefiting both countries and their friendly peoples.
English-language newspaper The Peninsula said that the visit of HE President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to Qatar will further strengthen friendly ties between the two countries and the signing of a number of bilateral agreements are set to broaden areas of cooperation.
Under the headline "Broadening Base of Cooperation", the paper said that yesterday, HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held a session of official talks at Lusail Palace with HE President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, adding that HH the Amir and President of Tajikistan also witnessed signing of an agreement and several Memoranda of Under-standing (MoUs) between the governments of the two countries.
Qatar and Tajikistan share similar stances on an array of crucial regional and international issues and dossiers, with both countries being eager on cooperation to maintain international security and peace, the paper said, pointing out that the two states also work closely in the framework of regional and international organizations, such as the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), and the Asia Cooperation Dialogue.
Tajikistan is exhibiting an eagerness to enhance relations with the State of Qatar and considers it as a main partner internationally, calling on Qatari businesspersons to invest in various Tajik sectors, be it in hydraulic energy, banking and financial services, metals, tourism, and agriculture, The Peninsula concluded.
