AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023: Iraq's Coach Hails Victory over Japan

Doha, January 19 (QNA) - Coach of the Iraq national team, Jesus Casas expressed his happiness at defeating Japan 2-1, on Friday at Education City Stadium, in the second round of Group D of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023. 

   In the post- match press conference, the coach said he is proud of the players' performance as they secured an important victory against Japan, and they had to celebrate a little after they made the fans happy, before continuing the journey in the tournament with greater effort.

   The coach added that the Iraqi team is competing in a strong and difficult tournament, noting that Japan, South Korea, Iran and Australia are the teams with better chances to win this cup. Despite this result, nothing has changed because the Japanese team has outstanding players who play in the best European clubs.

   He called on the team to focus on each match individually and to spare no effort in achieving the team's goal and securing victories as the journey is still ahead of them. (QNA)
