The FM Announces Iraq's Agreement To Join A Coalition To Ensure The Protection Of Water Sources

Baghdad /NINA/- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, announced today, Wednesday, Iraq’s agreement to join an alliance that will be formed to ensure the protection of water sources.

 

A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: “Hussein met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia, Tanja Vajon, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and ways to develop and enhance them in a way that achieves common interests, and touched on the recent Iranian attack on Iraqi territory.”

 

According to the statement, the Minister stressed Iraq’s approach and its movements in the Security Council and the United Nations to condemn the Iranian aggression against Iraq, noting: “Today the League of Arab States held an emergency session at the request of Iraq against the backdrop of the Iranian aggression against the city of Erbil,” stressing: “Iraq will continue to defend its rights through political and legal means to ensure its security and sovereignty.”

 

On the other hand, the minister renewed Iraq's firm position on the Palestinian issue and the necessity of stopping the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and continuing to provide humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.

 

For her part, the Slovenian Foreign Minister called on Iraq to join an alliance that will be formed to ensure the protection of water sources, and in this context, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs confirmed Iraq’s agreement to join this alliance and the possibility of future cooperation in the field of water./End
