CGB Announces Commencement of Applying System of Reducing Working Hours for Qatari Mothers Working in Public Institutions

 
Doha, December 19 (QNA) - The Civil Service and Government Development Bureau (CGB), in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), commenced the pilot stage of applying the system of reducing the working hours of Qatari mothers operating at the public sector during the mid-year vacation in the academic calendar. The system states that their working day shall end at 12 pm starting from Dec. 24 during the whole duration of the vacation. Female employees operating in entities whose work are essentially required to be accomplished until the end of the official working hours shall be exempted from this system, CGB outlined, pointing out that the pilot phase of reducing the working hours during the mid-year vacation in the academic calendar will be for two weeks. The conditions and regulations of applying this pilot phase are represented in submitting the documents that evidently prove that female employees have sons and daughters enrolled in schools nationwide until the stage of secondary schools and making sure that birth certificates are enclosed when submitting the application to employers, CGB outlined, indicating that employers will determine the jobs that are subject to this system. CGB emphasized that the implementation of this system came to boost the role of families and increase cohesion among individuals, as well as the pivotal role mothers are undertaking in upbringing and caring for sons and daughters in recognition of the fact that mothers essentially deserve to spend prolonged times with their sons and daughters. It added that such a step helps adopt more flexible methods in work and encourages female employers to increase productivity and reconcile between work and family requirements, in addition to elevating career satisfaction. In addition, CGB will study the pilot stage to implement the system of reducing the working hours for Qatari mothers operating in public entities and assess the experience accordingly, since CGB seeks to adopt initiatives that would squarely support Qatari families and achieve the balance between the work and private life for individuals, in the quest for creating a community that enjoys welfare, as well as increasing the productivity and innovation in the workplace and building a wholesome and sustainable work environment.
