Iranian Ambassador in Doha to QNA: National Day Occasion to Commemorate History and Achievements

Doha, December 19 (QNA) - HE Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the State of Qatar Ali Salehabadi underlined that the National Day of the State of Qatar is an important occasion to revive the country’s ancient past, recall its glorious history, and honor its accomplishments. In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE the Iranian Ambassador said that Qatar National Day is indeed a local national event, however the State of Qatar managed to connect it last year to the events of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 that were hosted successfully under the slogan "Our Unity Source of Our Strength". His Excellency noted that the events of the National Day and the World Cup were accompanied by Islamic culture and civilization displays in front of billions of observers and viewers around the world, regardless of their races, religions, colors and beliefs, turning this national and historical event for the people of Qatar into a global occasion that will always be remembered for the immortal and brilliant historical successes achieved by the Qatar World Cup, as well as the distinction of an Islamic country in organizing the largest sporting event in the world, which demonstrated that the State of Qatar has a decisive approach to promoting coexistence, dialogue and rapprochement between peoples and cultures in the world. HE Ambassador Ali Salehabadi applauded Qatar's supportive positions for the people of Palestine and their just cause, stressing that Qatar’s support for the people of Gaza, standing by them, and providing them with all forms of support under the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani are positions that history will immortalize in the minds of Muslims and the world, as they confirm without doubt that the people of Qatar are keen on justice and peace, and that their support for the Palestinian people is a symbol of defending humanity and justice. He valued HH the Amir's position in supporting innocent civilians in Gaza, sponsoring orphans, and caring for the wounded in this war. HE the Iranian Ambassador also praised all forms of Qatar's political, economic, and media support for the Palestinian cause, as well as the humanitarian aid provided by various Qatari institutions to Gaza Strip, which he considered very remarkable. HE Ambassador Ali Salehabadi highlighted the great efforts of the State of Qatar in resolving disputes and crises, which made it a reliable mediator. This was also evident in the crisis that Gaza Strip has been experiencing through Qatar’s active political role and its mediation and tireless efforts to reach a humanitarian pause and realize the exchange of a number of hostages, which is a praiseworthy humanitarian act in light of the daily crimes committed by the Israeli entity against the oppressed Palestinian people. The State of Qatar has become a center for global diplomacy, and the influx of various heads of state and officials to the country and their constant communication with Qatari officials, especially during Gaza crisis, is evidence of this. All of these positions and policies have further strengthened the position of the State of Qatar in the international and regional arenas in light of its diplomacy's contributions to issues of concern to the international community that are invaluable for achieving security and stability, through dialogue instead of violence, as well as combating poverty, illiteracy and climate change, and protecting the environment, HE the Ambassador added. HE Ambassador Ali Salehabadi described the relations between Doha and Tehran as positive, ideal and deeply rooted, pointing to the good neighborliness between the two countries and the countless historical cultural, social, economic and political commonalities. Thanks to the positive orientation of the leaderships and peoples of the two countries, the prospects for the future development of the Qatari-Iranian relations are brighter than ever before, HE the Ambassador stressed.(QNA)
