Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister to QNA: Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad ACE Award Reflects Qatar's Effective Efforts in that Field

Tashkent, December 19 (QNA) - HE Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhromjon Aloyev stressed the significance of the Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence (ACE) Award in the effective efforts of the State of Qatar in fighting and combating corruption, indicating that the award's huge success made it the first international award in that field.
In his remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), His Excellency highlighted that the award, which was established years ago, has seen its fame grow one year after the other, as countries from four continents have won it so far. He also noted that Uzbekistan's hosting of this year's ceremony helps in enhancing relations between the two countries. He pointed out that his country has prepared well to organize the event, as more than 250 personalities from 40 countries around the world and from several international organizations are attended, which is an acknowledgment of Uzbekistans efforts in combating corruption.
HE Aloyev highlighted the growing Qatari-Uzbek relations, pointing out that the two countries exchange views on a number of issues, especially with regard to the situation in Afghanistan and the situation in Gaza and Palestine in general. He added that, together, the two countries support the peace process and Qatar's efforts to stabilize the situation in Palestine.
HE Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan said that cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Uzbekistan has significantly increased in the last five years, adding that the recent visits of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Uzbekistan and of HE President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Qatar have opened broader horizons for cooperation, especially political cooperation.
His Excellency added that the two countries are taking many measures to increase the volume of their trade exchange, and the most important area is the field of tourism, where an agreement was signed that allows the entry of diplomats. Citizens of both countries can travel without a visa for 30 days, he said pointing out that there are projects worth $15 billion in the fields of energy, infrastructure, hotel construction, textiles, health, education, agriculture, and other fields. His Excellency stressed that Uzbekistan pays great attention to developing the economic situation between the two countries.
HE Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan said that direct flights between the two countries via Uzbekistan Airlines, and soon in 2024 via Qatar Airways, will increase the number of tourists and the volume of bilateral trade and will have a positive impact on the two countries.
Concluding his remarks to QNA, HE Aloyev said that bilateral cooperation between the two countries is not limited to political and economical fields only, it also includes cultural aspects as many cultural activities are organized between the two countries. He pointed out to the Days of Culture of Uzbekistan events held in Qatar. In return, Qatar's Ministry of Culture will discuss the establishment of Culture Days of Qatar in Uzbekistan. He added that there is also bilateral cooperation in the sports field, which indicates that relations between the two countries are constantly developing. (QNA)
