Uzbek Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Hails Qatars Anti-Corruption Efforts

Doha, December 19 (QNA) - HE Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov praised the State of Qatars support for his countrys efforts dedicated to making it an attractive destination for investments under the leadership of HE President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, especially in light of the crucial and tangible results Uzbekistan has made in this field thanks to the numerous reforms witnessed by multiple sectors, including anti-corruption reforms.
In remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE Kudratov noted that Uzbekistan has created an anti-corruption agency, adding that his country is fully aware of the fact that corruption should not be tolerated, and that it intends to be an investment-attractive country and maintains its growth rates, affirming that the efforts Uzbekistan is exerting are paying off.
He underscored that the effective measures his country has undertaken are vindicated by Qatars position to opt for Uzbekistan to be the venue for holding the ceremony of Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award; adding that Uzbekistan aspires to persist with the expansion of its partnership with Doha to capitalize on its expertise in this field, with cognitive solutions and policies that ensure further progress for Uzbekistan in anti-corruption efforts.
His Excellency emphasized that countries could hardly draw big investors and key players to their economies when they were faced with a lot of hurdles, including corruption, prompting the enforcement of robust and clear policies, as well as legal frameworks that do not tolerate with corruption, outlining that Uzbekistan has taken rigorous measures which are of high priority for HE President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Regarding the memorandums of understanding signed between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Uzbekistan, he said his country signed several cooperation memorandums on anti-corruption and crime prevention with the State of Qatar. The memorandums were signed by the Ministers of Interior in the two countries during the visit of HE President Laziz Kudratov to the State of Qatar last October. Also, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding on the prevention and combating of corruption between the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA) of the State of Qatar and the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan (ACA).
These memorandums of understanding constituted the cornerstone of further partnership in this field, after Uzbekistans Director of ACA visited Qatar and discussed specific steps and measures to capitalize on Qatars experience in this field and enforce the Qatari measures and expertise in Uzbekistan. It was the third visit for ACAs Director to the State of Qatar during 2023, HE Kudratov said.
His Excellency said that during these visits he observed the tremendous progress and advancement Qatar had made, pointing out that he is aware of the national vision adopted by the Qatari leadership that extends until 2030. He underlined that he is certain the national vision will contribute to advancing Qatar in the upcoming years and making it more prosperous for further sustainable development in the long term.
HE Kudratov highlighted that the Qatars anti-corruption measures, alongside the special anti-corruption authorities established in the state show tangible results, affirming that Uzbekistan is very much interested in cooperation with Qatar and expanding the scope of their cooperation in this field.
