Uzbek President's Special Representative for Foreign Affairs Highlights to QNA Importance of Bilateral, International Anti-Corruption Cooperation

Doha, December 19 (QNA) - The Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award, hosted by Uzbekistan, is an important event for bilateral relations and cooperation in this regard, HE Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov said, highlighting the need to benefit from Qatar's expertise in this field.
Speaking with Qatar News Agency (QNA), His Excellency pointed out the importance of bilateral and international cooperation in combating corruption, noting that Uzbekistan and Qatar as part of the United Nations, have large-scale relations with international and financial organizations.
His Excellency stressed the need for transparency and openness to cooperate with partners, and provide a good climate for businessmen, with corruption strongly threatening the development of economic-financial relations.
His Excellency expressed his appreciation for HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's visit to Uzbekistan to participate in this event, saying that the visit will enable the exchange of visions and strengthen relations between the two countries. HH The Amir's last visit to Uzbekistan and HE President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Doha elevated the bilateral relations to broader horizons of cooperation.
During His Highness' visit to Uzbekistan in June, high-level meetings resulted in sealing historic agreements totaling USD 12 billion, on 12 investment projects, HE Kamilov said, adding that HE the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan's visit to Qatar contributed to elevating bilateral relations.
HH the Amir's upcoming visit to Uzbekistan is a great opportunity to develop relations between the two countries beyond anti-corruption areas to bilateral relations in many other topics of common interest, His Excellency added, noting the need to amplify efforts to increase the positive achievements already reached, with both countries aspiring for and possessing the potentials for further bilateral partnerships. HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President Shavkat Mirziyoyev share friendly and robust relations, and their mutual visits achieved great results, His Excellency said.
The Republic of Uzbekistan opened an embassy in Doha, and Qatar has an embassy in Tashkent, His Excellency added, highlighting that there are direct flights between the two countries. There are many factors linking the two countries and the two peoples, at top of which is Islam, His Excellency added.
His Excellency hailed the Qatar-Uzbekistan cooperation on the international level, and Qatar's contributions to stabilizing the situation in Central Asia, especially in Afghanistan, highlighting Qatar's key role in signing an agreement between the US and Taliban.
Both countries have worked together in many other international files, including the pause in Gaza, the reunification of Ukrainian children with their families, and other humanitarian positions championed by Qatar, His Excellency added. (QNA)
