QNA Director General, Uzbek Counterpart: Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani International ACE Award is an Essential Pillar in Encouraging, Honoring International Efforts

Doha, December 19 (QNA) - The Director-General of the Qatar News Agency (QNA) and the Director-General of Uzbekistan National News Agency (UZA) stressed the importance of the "Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award" in encouraging and honoring efforts made to combat corruption at the global level, and building an international network of partners and institutions committed to combating corruption, in a way that enhances cooperation and exchange of knowledge and experiences to achieve positive results in this regard.
HE Director-General of Qatar News Agency (QNA) Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rumaihi stressed that the "Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award" which was launched for the first time in 2016, confirms the interest and support of the wise leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, for all regional and international efforts that limit corruption, considering it a scourge that hinders the achievement of development in the entire world.
His Excellency said that the Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award, the seventh edition of which will be hosted in the Republic of Uzbekistan, is considered a genuine reminder from Qatar to the world on the importance of fighting corruption and motivating everyone to implement the decisive measures set by the United Nations Convention against Corruption by celebrating the innovative and creative achievements of individuals and institutions who spare no effort in fighting corruption wherever it may be.
He pointed out that honoring innovators and those with purposeful initiatives aimed at combating corruption is an exceptional thing, and therefore the states wise leadership was keen to celebrate them annually in the context of seeking to reduce corruption of all kinds and calling for awareness of the importance of these efforts, which are appreciated by HH the Amir personally.
His Excellency the Director General of Qatar News Agency explained that celebrating successful and creative models in combating corruption is an important incentive to strengthen international efforts in this field. The award is also an important means of introducing all individual and collective endeavors in combating corruption and providing an ideal example of the importance of playing this role at the international level, lauding Uzbekistan's hosting of the seventh edition of the award ceremony, and emphasizing the strong bonds and relations that unite the two countries, especially during recent years especially at the level of exchange of visits between the leaderships of the two countries, the most recent of which was the visit of HH the Amir to Tashkent last June, then the visit of HE the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Doha last October.
His Excellency considered Uzbekistan's hosting of the award ceremony to be the best evidence of the development of relations and cooperation between the two countries in various fields, on the one hand, and a reflection of shared visions on important issues such as the issue of combating corruption, which requires multilateral cooperation between countries and regional and international institutions, on the other hand.
For his part, Director-General of the Uzbekistan National News Agency Kuchimov Abdusaid Kuchimovich, said in a similar statement to QNA that the State of Qatar's experience in combating corruption is an inspiration for other countries and an example to follow especially with regard to its keenness to build strong institutions and enact legislation and laws that enhance good governance and a culture of transparency and integrity, and its launch of the "Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award," which confirms its firm commitment to raising governance standards and promoting integrity throughout the world.
He explained that the State of Qatar's choice of Uzbekistan to host the ceremony honoring the award winners this year reflects Qatar's commitment to supporting international efforts to combat corruption and promote integrity and transparency, especially the two countries' efforts to deepen and develop relations to benefit the interests of the peoples of both countries, pointing out that cooperation between countries to combat corruption requires widespread effort and coordination to achieve maximum effectiveness in confronting this dangerous phenomenon, this would reduce its negative effects and enhance economic and social stability at the global level.
He noted that Uzbekistan looks forward with great interest to be inspired by and benefit from Qatar's experience in combating corruption and promoting transparency, pointing out that cooperation between the two countries can have a significant positive impact on their mutual relations, on enhancing transparency and building more just and impartial societies.
He also stated that this cooperation could include the exchange of experiences and successful practices in combating corruption in multiple fields, through learning about the legislation and policies in force in both countries, and the effective policies that have been used to address this dilemma, and to contribute to strengthening technical and institutional cooperation between the two countries, through the exchange of experts and government officials in areas such as capacity building and developing supervisory and judicial tools and institutions to combat corruption, promoting fair practices in the field of business and investments, as well as coordinating bilateral efforts within international anti-corruption initiatives and agreements, and cooperating with international bodies such as the United Nations and other relevant international institutions and organizations.
Regarding the role of the media in combating corruption, Kuchimovich explained that the media has a prominent role in educating individuals about the dangers of corruption and its negative effects on society and the economy, supporting government reforms aimed at combating corruption, and working to encourage transparency and good governance, as well as promoting public debate on issues of corruption and transparency, and encouraging citizens to participate in this discussion and contribute to developing reform plans.
