National Day/ Acting CEO of Qatar Social Work Foundation: QND is Occasion to Express Pride of Homeland

Doha, December 19 (QNA) - Acting CEO of Qatar Social Work Foundation Rashid Al Nuaimi said that Qatar National Day is an opportunity to express pride of the precious homeland, and an occasion for the citizens to renew loyalty to Qatar and strengthen their identity, unity and solidarity.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of Qatar National Day, Al Nuaimi extended congratulations to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, and HH the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, and to the esteemed government, and the people of the State of Qatar.

Highlighting the most significant achievements of Qatar Social Work Foundation this year, Al Nuaimi noted many successes and great progress in the field of social work and community awareness, including partnerships and joint initiatives to serve various groups of society.

Al Nuaimi focused on the development of the "Autism-Friendly Spaces" project which was launched in cooperation with Tamkeen, noting that more than 20 local institutions from various sectors participated in this project to create guidelines aimed at making spaces more welcoming for people with autism in Qatar - one of the vital groups that the Foundations centers serve and seek to improve their quality of life and raise the level of efforts to match the extent of the challenge.

In addition, the Foundation strengthened its partnerships by signing memorandums of understanding with several local and international bodies such as "Elite Paper Recycling" and "Rafeeq". It also organized a series of introductory meetings with important institutions such as Qatar Olympic Academy, Qatar Olympic Committee, UNESCO, and the Public diplomacy Network in Katara, as well as meetings at Al-Manar School, the Andalus Educational Complex, and the General Authority of Customs. The Foundation also received a delegation from the Rwandan Defense Force Command and Staff College to introduce them to the Foundation's and its activities, he added.

Among other activities, Qatar Social Work Foundation organized the Sports Day event in cooperation with the National Service, and participated in the United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries. The promotion of the social work culture was also emphasized through workshops and participation in the European Social Conference, Al Nuaimi noted.

In recognition of its remarkable achievements, Qatar Social Work Foundation won the Family-Friendly Institutions Award in the Arab Region for the year 2023 during the 27th session of the Arab Childhood Committee and the 13th session of the Arab Family Committee in Cairo. This honor came in recognition of the Foundation's continuous efforts and pioneering initiatives in strengthening family ties and providing a supportive and stimulating environment for families in Qatar through various programs and services aimed at improving the quality of life of individuals and promoting positive interaction in society, Al Nuaimi said.

As part of its contribution to Qatar National Vision 2030, Qatar Social Work Foundation is considered a pioneering institution that contributes effectively to social and human development and serving the Qatari community through its affiliated centers that specialize in the areas of supporting family stability, caring for orphans, protecting children and women, empowering youth, and caring and rehabilitating people with disabilities and the elderly. The Foundation also contributes to achieving the goals of the First National Development Strategy (2011-2016) and the Second National Development Strategy (2018-2022), he added.

Al Nuaimi noted that Qatar Social Work Foundation participated in the preparation of the social protection sector vision under the auspices of the Ministry of Social Development and Family, by proposing social policies and programs that contribute to achieving the goals of the Third National Development Strategy (2023-2030), within Qatar National Vision 2030, by strengthening the protection of families, promoting social welfare, and providing support to families and individuals by providing social and economic empowerment services, as well as health education, family guidance, and awareness in this field in partnership with government and private agencies in the country. The Foundation also promote social justice and individual rights, support and protect vulnerable and needy groups such as children, the elderly, people with disabilities, women and their protectors in accordance with special laws and regulations in this regard.

It also provide social services, training, vocational rehabilitation, treatment and care, and work within the National Development Strategy to enhance social solidarity and community participation, as well as enhancing the spirit of cooperation and supporting the community environment that encourages participation, volunteering, and building community partnerships to achieve sustainable development, and contributing mainly to building human capital, research and studies in the field of social work in partnership with universities and educational and research institutions in the country, and encouraging scientific research and exchanging local and international knowledge and experiences.

In conclusion of his statement to QNA, Acting CEO of Qatar Social Work Foundation Rashid Al Nuaimi said that the Third National Development Strategy and Qatar National Vision 2030 require concerted and integrated efforts to achieve sustainable development and improve the well-being of society; indicating that Qatar Social Work Foundation works as part of these integrated efforts to implement programs and projects that make human service a priority to achieve social development goals in the State of Qatar.
