National Day/ Chairman of Central Municipal Council to QNA: National Day Brings Feelings of Pride, Belonging

Doha, December 14 (QNA) - HE Chairman of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) Mohammed bin Ali Al Athba affirmed that the National Day is a precious occasion that brings feelings of pride in the national achievements of the wise leadership.
    HE extended, in his name and on behalf of all members of the Central Municipal Council, sincerest congratulations to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, HH the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, and to wise government and the people and residents of Qatar on this precious occasion.
    In remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE Mohammed bin Ali Al Athba emphasized that Dec. 18 will remain an important date in the hearts and memories of loyal Qatari people, as they recall the country's glorious past since its foundation by Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani on this historic day in the year 1878, in which he succeeded his father, Sheikh Mohammed bin Thani, in leading the country to foundation and unity. It also represents a milestone to stand on and look forward to a promising future with our wise leadership that harnessed all the capabilities to continue the march of progress and prosperity throughout the country.
    Al Athba added that this year's National Day comes as the country enjoy security, stability and progress, and at the same time, our dear country occupies its seat among nations as a modern and developed state, which has its place in the civilized world.
    He said that what has been achieved since the founding of the state is a source of pride for us and our Arab and Islamic nation on more than one level, and its leaders have carried the responsibility with determination and steadfastness over the years, noting that as we in the era of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the march and giving continue, goodness prevails throughout this dear country under his leadership, which has devoted itself to protecting the country and caring for the citizen, and has harnessed its energies and resources for the sake of the elevation and dignity of the Qatari citizen, and the fulfillment of his aspirations.
    HE emphasized that the message to every citizen and resident, that on this noble occasion, we draw inspiration from the spirit and vision of the founder, propelling us to more work, productivity, and dedication in serving the country. He highlighted CMC's commitment to collaborate with all relevant government agencies to fulfill the citizens' aspirations in activating its responsibilities and goals.
    HE Chairman of the Central Municipal Council underlined everyone's commitment to making citizen service and nation-building the primary goal and objective, noting that since the founding of the State, Qatari citizens have been the top priority in the development process, as human being is the pillar of every civilization and progress, and the educated person is the bedrock on which the state can rely. Hence, the country's wise leadership focused on establishing schools, universities, and different educational institutions in order to build and prepare the Qatari citizen, he added.
    Furthermore, HE emphasized that the wise leadership is completing the journey of the founder, who instilled in us values and principles, and is directing the efforts to continue with the achievements in the field of healthcare. This involves diversifying and enhancing services, introducing the latest medical technologies, and allocating social assistance to support underprivileged families.
    He also highlighted the achievements in the infrastructure development, including cities, roads, bridges, ports, and numerous public facilities, as well as energy provision, pointing out that several large industrial projects have been established, until Qatar occupies an advanced position among the countries of the world, with the success of its foreign policy, guided by the commitment of HH the Amir to the principles of right, justice, respect for international conventions and laws, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries, and fostering friendly relations with all countries the world.
    The wise leadership has succeeded, through its wise policy, in overcoming global and regional difficulties and challenges, he said, noting that this success, coupled with a commitment to the unity of the domestic front, has laid the foundations for justice, equality, and the rule of law, similar to major nations, as Qatar has received admiration worldwide.
    HE Mohammed bin Ali Al Athba stressed that the Central Municipal Council collaborates with all ministries, authorities, and institutions in the country, and seeks to continually improve its performance to fulfill the aspirations of citizens, cooperating with all concerned government agencies to serve the country and its citizens, and contributing to the development and elevation of the country.
    HE commended the esteemed government's efforts to accelerate the implementation of all projects and respond to the constituencies' needs for infrastructure and service projects, such as commercial streets and public parks, as well as projects in the health, education and other sectors.
​    Over the 24 years of its existence, the Municipal Council has contributed with recommendations and proposals to the country's development. It has actively engaged with various issues concerning citizens and residents within its competences, playing a role in implementing municipal decisions and laws for the benefit of the public interest, HE said
    His Excellency told QNA that on this day "We take a pause of contemplation, in which we recall the march of years of effort and giving, to sharpen determination and establish ourselves with pride and loftiness, to follow the steps of the ancestors." (QNA)
