Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding Boosts, Disseminates Global Peace, Say Winners

Doha, December 13 (QNA) - The winners of the 9th Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding valued the Award's role in boosting inter-cultural dialogue and bringing peace worldwide. 
    Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), they said the Award contributes to achieving cultural pluralism, as well as spreading Arab creativity into the world’s languages, and transferring knowledge and ideas from the world’s languages to Arabic.
       Jaime Sanchez Ratia, who secured the first place for translating Muhammad Ibn Yahya as-Suli's Akhbar Abi Tammam from Arabic into Spanish, said the Award achieves international understanding, especially with the State of Qatar's significant role as an international mediator in various international conflicts, which contributes to promoting dialogue and enhancing understanding. 
    The translator at the Geneva-based UN Office pointed out that his winning book was chosen based on his love for Arab heritage. 
    Dr. Youmna Tarif Al Khouli, who shared the third-place prize for the Translation from English into Arabic category, hailed Award as a tool to enhance and enrich global dialogue to establish the cultural pluralism and recognition of others, appreciating the Award's approach that values and motivates creative translators. 
    The Award raises the glorious values of promoting dialogue between civilizations, and strengthen them into Arab consciousness, she said. 
    The winners of the 9th Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding were named Tuesday, at a ceremony at Grand Hyatt Hotel, Doha. (QNA)
