Qatar Strongly Condemns Israeli Occupation Decision to Seize Palestinian Lands in East Jerusalem

Doha, December 13 (QNA) - The State of Qatar strongly condemned the Israeli occupation authorities decision to seize Palestinian lands in Silwan, occupied East Jerusalem, to build a cable railway, considering the decision a blatant violation of the principles and provisions of international law and the relevant UNESCO resolutions.
       In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities to oblige Israel to stop its measures aimed at changing the historical and legal status of the city of Jerusalem. The ministry also warned against the Israeli occupation using the international community's preoccupation with the developments of events in the Gaza Strip to pass unilateral decisions that violate the rights of the fraternal Palestinian people.
       The ministry stressed that the Israeli decision would hinder reaching a two-state solution, as it is the only way to achieve sustainable peace in the region.
       The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the State of Qatar's firm stance on the justice of the Palestinian cause, the legitimate rights of the fraternal Palestinian people, and the establishment of its independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. (QNA)
