Secretary-General of SHATIU: Award is Glamorous Beacon from Doha to Promote Understanding, Peace Worldwide

Doha, December 12 (QNA) - Secretary-General of the Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding (SHATIU), Dr. Hassan Al Naama, affirmed that SHATIU is a glamorous view from Doha that promotes international understanding and global peace.
Addressing the final ceremony of the 9th edition of the award on Tuesday, Dr. Al Naama expressed to the winners of the award the assurances of his highest consideration, hailing their efforts in bridging the gap among cultures, affirming that the award offers constant efforts to communicate the beacons of Arab culture, along with its contributions and interaction in human civilization, pointing out that it represents a bridge to other worlds through its constant achievements inspiring the glamor of progress and human thought.
Dr. Al Naama extended sincere thanks to HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani for generously patronizing the award which keeps up with the march of human civilization to achieve further progress and international understanding, noting that the award plants lilies of peace and the language of global dialogue to patronize translation among Arabic language and a variety of world languages.
In remarks on behalf of the guests of the award, the Spanish translator and researcher Carmen Ruiz-Sanchez praised the efforts of SHATIU, along with its unwavering endeavors aimed at forging a robust international relationship that primarily aims to change the reality towards the best, emphasizing that whenever translation is intact it will achieve a global intellectual richness, expressing her thanks for the award which she described as a milestone that helps make better future through activating the understanding and acculturation.
The efforts undertaken by SHATIU lay the foundation for building solid international relationships and opening a window for humanity through its keenness to correctly advance translation fields, Ruiz-Sanchez added.
The award was distributed to the winners within two categories: the achievement category in which the value of the award in each category is worth $100,000, and the single book category, in which the value of the award for the three ranks in each category is worth $200,000.
At the coronation ceremony, a documentary movie was screened on SHATIU's efforts, along with its tours around the countries of the world which were associated with the languages of the 9th edition of the award.
This year, SHATIU has witnessed the participation of translation-relevant individuals and institutions from 38 countries, including 19 Arab countries.
Launched in 2015, SHATIU is considered the largest award dedicated to translation from Arabic and vice versa globally, and overtly targets the most talented ones in the translation field, whether individuals or institutions to pay tribute to the long-term achievement and efforts in translation, appreciate the active entities in this field for solidifying the bonds of friendship and cooperation among peoples, in addition to extending communication bridges among nations and propagating diversity, plurality and openness.
