Delegation from International Swimming Federation Tours World Aquatics Championships (Doha 2024) Facilities

Doha, December 12 (QNA) - A delegation from the International Swimming Federation on Tuesday toured the sports facilities hosting the 2024 World Aquatics Championships (Doha 2024), due to be held from Feb. 2-18, 2024.
The delegation toured the Aspire Dome, Hamad Aquatic Centre, as well as the site of the open water swimming and high diving competitions in the Old Doha Port. The delegation held a meeting with the committee organizing the contest to check on the preparations for this major global event, along with the mechanism of the work progress, schedules for receiving the sites for each contest, and the date of holding the trial championship that precedes the World Championship.
The event will see roughly 2,500 athletes from both genders hailing from over 190 countries will compete in 6 sports: swimming, diving, water polo, synchronized swimming, open water swimming, and high diving. The championship contests will be held in three main sites; Aspire Dome, Hamad Aquatic Centre and the Old Doha Port.
The Aspire Dome hosts swimming synchronized swimming and water polo contests while diving contests will be held at Hamad Aquatic Centre, while open water swimming and high diving competitions will be held at the Old Doha Port.
Doha has so far won the bid for hosting the World Aquatics Championships event, which is considered the most important and crucial event in the federation's calendar after the Qatari file won the highest number of votes during the voting process, which took place at the meeting of the International Swimming Federation Board of Directors in Budapest, Hungary in 2016.
