PSA to Organize Workshop on Food and Water Security in GCC

Doha, December 11 (QNA) - The Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) will organize Tuesday a workshop on the role of food and water security in achieving sustainable development in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Held in collaboration with the GCC General Secretariat, the event will discuss national efforts to enhance food and water security, share the GCC countries' successful and distinctive practices, exchange experiences and benefit from them, in order to achieve a shift towards sustainable production and consumption of food and water resources, in addition to discussing the challenges facing efforts to achieve food and water security, and enhancing cooperation with regard to national efforts to achieve food and water security at the GCC level.
The workshop discusses three main axes: Gulf visions, policies and strategies for food and water security; the economic, health and environmental dimensions of food and water security for the GCC countries and the interconnected relationship between water and food security; and successful models and practices in the field of food and water security and investment in technology and modern technologies.
Those concerned with development planning, food and water security in the GCC countries at the level of government agencies, the private sector and research institutions will participate in the workshop.
This workshop is the result of the 18th meeting of the GCC's Planning and Development Directors Committee, which was agreed upon at the 28th meeting of the Comprehensive Long-Term Development Strategy Working Group. (QNA)
