Iran's Mafi bags silver in world powerlifting championship
Mehdi Mafi Gholami has received a silver medal in the World Classic Open Powerlifting Championships held in Malta.
With a record of 387.5 kg recorded on Sunday, Mafi Gholami, the only Iranian weightlifter in the +120 kilogram weight category, set a new record in the squat in the masters 1 category.
Hefinished with 205 kg in chest press and 330 kg in the deadlift.
Mafi Gholami stood 10th in the total ranking with a record of 922.5 kg.
Powerlifters from US, Georgia and Türkiye won the first three positions respectively.
