ECO-NANO network inaugurated in Iran

– The nanotechnology network of the Economic Cooperation Organization was inaugurated during a ceremony here on Tuesday in the presence of of the ECo member states' officials and representatives.

An agreement was also signed during the ceremony between the ECO and the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC) on promotion of cooperation among the ECO member states.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Deputy Secretary General of Economic Cooepration Organization (ECO) Hassan Taherian and Secretary of Iran’s Headquarters for Development of Nanotechnology Dr Saeed Sarkar.

The aim to establish the ECO-NANO network was to improve nanotechnology among the ECO member states, to help exchange of experiences among the organization's members and making both international and regional markets for the nanotechnology business.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, the ECO-NANO network website was also inaugurated and a number of the nanotechnology products were put on display.

The ECO-NANO's first meeting was held in May 20, 2008 in the ECO secretariat, in Tehran. The meeting hosted delegates from Iran, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, the ECO secretariat, the COMSTECH and IDB (Islamic Development Bank).
